Ritual

In the heart of Chania, Maria lovingly looks after the Holy Chapel of Saint Irene (Agia Irini), a small Orthodox church in the Splantzia quarter of the Old Town.

Each morning, Maria places the geraniums out on the window sill, as she always has done. She opens the church doors to welcome any visitor and sits outside waiting for friends or strangers alike to stop by, say hello or take a wander inside. Her devotion is admirable.

For prayer, for solitude or connection, all are welcome at Saint Agia Irena.
